I just love this cutting board. Apart from its excellent quality, it is such a beautiful object. I would have bought it even if I never intended to chop on it!

I have used this product to oil my solid oak butcher block island for 21 years. This oil is easy to use and keeps my island looking like new, even though I haven't oiled it every month. I love it and would never use anything else!

Contemporary Solid Wood Chopping Board - Butcher Block Collection
Buyer Beware from Drexel Hill, PA

I use this board almost every day for mostly cutting vegetables. The end grain makes for a solid cutting surface that is suppose to be easier on knives. The board I purchased does not look like the board pictured on the website, the wood is darker and the butcher block peices are not uniform in size like the picture (some very small thin peices). Even though the manufacturer states "it has a protective oil finish for long lasting durability", (that was only metioned on this webpage to write a review and not on the initial description), I would highly recommend curing your board before use with mineral oil and do some research on curing and maintaining your board; fore this will determine the condition and longevity of your board. I cleaned the board with soap and water in the sink like you would clean any other kitchen article, and after a few weeks noticed many cracks between the butcher block peices, so make sure you take this initial step of curing the board. My only gripe (other than the irregular sized peices of blocks and the darker color), is I think the manufacturer should include an "Important" note about maintaining the board, despite their mention of initially oiling their board. I think the board is a good board, but not an exellent board. For the price and quality I would recommend this board, only if you do the initial care and maintaince. I am currently repairing the cracks with mineral oil and later will use a blend of mineral oil and bee wax and see if that does the repair. It is starting to close up the cracks, but will have to see if I may have to use some waterproof wood glue to complete the job. I've used none butcher block boards and found after purchasing a butcher block end grain board that it is a much nicer cutting surface.
